Colors Remind Me of People, Or

People remind me of colors....

Often when I am working on choosing colors for a bead set, my brain is busy thinking about random stuff as well (multitasking?). Sometimes, a person comes to mind, and I end up picking colors that remind me of that person without even realizing it until later.

In this case, it was my mom Karla, and this is the set that came out of the kiln this morning.

My mom is a beautiful person, with a classic and comfortable style - kind of like these colors. The sweet, earthy berries and effervescent limes remind me a lot of her personality.

Mom's kind of complex, too - while on one hand she is familiar and warm, she is also bright and quietly cheerful, and I love her!

Karla's Garden beads were made from CiM glass in Heffalump, Dirty Martini, Simply Berry, Effetre glass in Grass Green, Olive, and Precision glass in Diamond Clear.

Even the glass names remind me of my mom! How weird is that? What colors remind you of your mom?

These beads are of course on auction - click them to see!

  1. Those are beautiful colors. I haven't ever thought of associating colors with a person, but since you asked I would use pink in the place of the purple with the same green and that would be my moms colors!

    Wonderful work!

If I associated any color to my mother is would be black.

  3. I do the same thing!! Whenever I paint while I'm thinking about my mother, my painting is bold with a lot red. If I think about my boyfriend, it's subtle and various shades of green.

I always thought it was strange and didn't make any sense, so I think it's great to read that someone else feels the same way, haha! Maybe it's a visual arts thing.

Beautiful blog, by the way - I am madly in love with your beads.

  4. I would suggest that you are feeling their aura's energy, since colors have different vibrations the colors resonate with the person's aura.

  5. I love the color combo... but replace the lavenders and purples with blue-violet/tanzanite and that would describe me! Hmmm...my friends would describe me as a whimisical bunny running through a happy, sea of flowers...LOL! Your color combinations make my heart sing...Thank you!

  8. Grapes - these colours remind of grapes, a nuice glass of red. Love the blog, I too spend my days dealing in colours, so it's nice to meet another colourful soul :-)

  9. Thanks for the kind words! I am glad you guys understood what I meant - sometimes I wonder if I make any sense at all. It's sometimes hard to put into words what color makes me feel.
